Carlie's Birthday... how it all turned out

First of all, let me just say that this birthday is going down in history as the worst birthday ever. Yes, she got a lot of great gifts and I'm sure that she will enjoy them a ton when she feels better. As I said beofre, I was hoping it would turn out to be a 24 hour flu. We weren't that lucky. She acted better the next morning so we set up to have the party later that evening. A few hours later we cancelled it again. She was definately not better. So we gave her the rest of her gifts later that night while the rest of us ate dinner. There was no singing of Happy Birthday, no blowing out the candle, no cutting the cake. Well at least not for Carlie. After Carlie fell asleep we finally cut the dried out cake and ate it with ice cream. Chance's parents said it tasted good, but in my opinion it was way to dry and the frosting was crusty.She got some great presents, as you can see. In adddition to the presents in the pictures she also got two new outfits from her grandma and grandpa Bowen. A little red dress and a cute jogging suit. As well as a pair of really cute Sketchers slippers. She wasn't real interested in any of it that night, but when we woke up this morning she went straight to her new toys and started playing. So that's the end of Carlie's 2nd birthday. Although she won't remember how horrible she felt the day she turned 2, I will never forget the events of December 18th 2007.
